Relieve the pain you are in. Myofascial release (MFR) as taught by John Barnes is a whole body hands-on form of bodywork that consists of gentle sustained pressure into fascial restrictions. Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. The fascial system surrounds and infuses with every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and blood vessel down to the cellular level. Therefore, trauma, posture and/or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on any or all of these structures. Over time, the tightness spreads resulting in loss of flexibility and/or discomfort/pain. This in turn sets your body up for more trauma, pain, and lack of mobility. These strong fascial restrictions begin to pull the body out of alignment resulting in inefficient movement and posture, expending more energy than it needs. Our skilled MFR therapist will evaluate you for your particular diagnosis/symptoms and perform a postural assessment. From this, an individualized treatment plan will be tailored to release myofascial restrictions throughout the body. MFR is particularly helpful in the treatment of chronic conditions that have not been resolved by traditional methods. It is effective in the treatment of many diagnoses, including:
• acute & chronic pain (low back pain, neck pain, disc problems, sciatica)
• headaches &migraines
• fibromyalgia
• chronic fatigue syndrome
• TMJ dysfunction
• repetitive stress disorder & sports injuries (tennis or golfer’s elbow, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome)
• post surgical scarring
• tinnitus
• vertigo
• post traumatic stress disorder
• whiplash
• orthopedic problems
• neurological dysfunction

15 years ago, I was a Search & Rescue Swimmer in the Navy when I experienced my back injury. Having been referred to "physical therapy" yet again, I was skeptical that I could get anything out of it. Since I have had Marie's Physical Therapy expertise and myofascial release, I am finally able to stay off of the pain killers. I like the professionalism and intuitiveness that Marie brings to her practice. She really helped me to learn how to listen to what my back needs and apply exercises that actually improve my mobility. Because of Marie's approach, I don't need two canes to walk anymore and I don't see myself needing the wheelchair again either. What a relief to be able to walk again! I have a renewed sense of hope due to Marie's encouragement and skill! Life is better! Thanks Marie!

I am so thankful for myofascial release therapy and Marie. Some childhood traumas bothered me for most of my life. With Marie's professionalism, skill, and compassion, those traumas are now just fading history. I am forever grateful for this special therapeutic healing.

I began seeing Marie for complications from scoliosis and pain in my shoulder, head, and neck. Since working with her I have experienced a significant reduction in body aches and pains, including the excruciating headaches I used to suffer. My overall mobility is vastly improved. I could not be more grateful or pleased with the improvements I have experienced; Marie has a true gift.
