Marie Parker is a licensed physical therapist and massage & bodywork therapist. Marie graduated from The University of Florida in 1996 with a bachelor’s of science degree in physical therapy. Since 1996 she has practiced in the Greater Boone/Blowing Rock Area. In 2001, she completed a 750-hour massage & bodywork program at The Florida School of Massage. During massage school, Marie discovered the depth of healing (both emotional and physical) from more subtle forms of bodywork. Hence, Marie became interested in craniosacral therapy and studied with Hugh Milne shortly thereafter.  In 2004, Marie studied Body-Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in Northhampton, MA.  Body-Mind Centering encompasses embodied movement and explores how the quality of movement can differ depending on what system of our body initiates the movement.  Eight years ago, Marie began her training with John Barnes learning myofascial release. All of her training since massage school has had profound effects on a mental-emotional level. However, the myofascial release training has had the most life-transforming change on all levels – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Marie discovered greater open space within herself allowing for freer movement on a physical realm, somatoemotional releases, and a better understanding of herself on a mental and spiritual level. Her bodywork therapy focuses on myofascial release and craniosacral therapy; yet, she will incorporate other modalities, client education, and self-care instruction during a session. Her passion is to facilitate and become a catalyst for others as they journey along in their healing process.
